Based in Hobart Tasmania, FitzGerald and Browne were established in July 2001 as a firm of two lawyers and one support staff member. The office was formally opened by Justice Alan Blow.
By 2010, the firm has grown to be four lawyers and five support staff.
We pride ourselves on helping people in the community, whether individuals or community groups. The firm has no links to State or Local Government. We have no connections with the big end of town. We work with community groups and individuals, whether in Family Law cases, community environmental issues or cases of state wide significance. Tony, Roland and Cassandra have each previously worked with the Legal Aid Commission of Tasmania.
While the client base for our firm is far removed from that of most law firms, we aspire to reach the highest ethical and professional standards in the practice of the law.
About 50% of the practice is Family Law, whether for married or unmarried couples. We also have an active conveyancing practice, led by Colleen Burdon. Colleen is ably supported by Shannon Cullen.
Tony FitzGerald practices in the family law area (children and property) and also in conveyancing.
Cassandra Gregg has a broad practice in family law and property.
Tony FitzGerald and Cassandra Gregg are both recognised as Child Representatives by the Legal Aid Commission of Tasmania.
Doris Melara works in the family law, crime, civil, wills and estate areas.
Roland Browne has an eclectic practice, ranging from Commonwealth workers compensation cases in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, to environment and planning and anti-discrimination law. He also conducts commercial litigation and some personal injury cases.
