Abigail Bindoff
Senior Associate
Abigail has worked in many areas of law since she began her career as a lawyer in 2006. She has recently moved to Hobart after practicing on the North West of Tasmania.
Abigail currently works mainly in the area of Family Law, including property, parenting and divorce. Having considerable experience with very complex and challenging family law matters, Abigail is very aware of the significant toll family law matters can take on the families involved and aims to minimize the impacts of the legal process for her clients.
Abigail also represents clients in criminal matters and Child Safety proceedings.
During her career, Abigail had a significant period of time where she practiced solely in Wills and Estates and can therefore assist clients with their estate planning matters, including preparing Wills, Powers of Attorney and instruments appointing Enduring Guardians.
As a member of the Guardianship and Administration Board for 6 years (now known as the Guardianship Stream of the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal – TASCAT), Abigail heard applications for appointments of administrators and guardians (substitute decision makers) for people with disability and an incapacity to make decisions for themselves. From this experience Abigail understands the issues that people face who cannot make decisions for themselves and the difficulties that substitute decision makers may experience in acting for those vulnerable members of our community.
